Having followed them since 1989, we are delighted to learn that the most successful exhibitor in the 100-year history of the RHS Flower Show – Hillier Nurseries – has clinched a 68th consecutive Chelsea Gold medal.
Hillier Chelsea designer and MD Andrew McIndoe says he is absolutely delighted: “We have an incredible team at Hillier, who have once again risen to the challenge and created a beautiful, seemingly established garden in just 10 days.
“For a while during this cold, dark spring, our theme of ‘Risk’ seemed particularly apt. But our secret weapon is our veteran Chelsea Plant Preparer, Ricky Dorlay, who has nurtured nearly 4000 trees and plants to absolute perfection.”
Hillier welcomed Her Majesty the Queen onto the Hillier Exhibit during her visit to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. John Hillier, Andrew McIndoe and Ricky Dorlay talked to Her Majesty about the Hillier Exhibit, its preparation and planting.
The Hillier Chelsea Exhibit was supported by Beazley, the specialist Lloyd’s insurers, and is a series of garden scenes, featuring stunning garden pools and fountains, a modern garden pavilion, and crocodile sculptures emerging from the undergrowth, all set amidst rich, lush, dramatic, inspirational planting.
