Pret Promises Help For Homeless

Pret a Manger has promised to help the homeless in the city, as it opens its first shop in Winchester on the High Street in the space previously occupied by Monsoon.

Pret’s full range of fresh food is handmade in each shop kitchen every day and never kept overnight. The food never has a ‘sell-by’ date. Instead, the company donates unsold food to local charities supporting the homeless every evening. Last year Pret donated over 3 million food items across the UK.

Tomasz Dziaba is the manager of the new Pret in Winchester: “My team and I are very proud and excited to introduce our new Pret shop to food lovers in Winchester. The shop is hoping to do its bit to help alleviate the pressures of homelessness in the Winchester area. We are looking to make connections with local charities and offer them our unsold food at the end of the day to support people in need.”

The new shop in Winchester has also created over 20 new jobs, including baristas, hot food chefs and front-of-house and kitchen teams.

If you have any suggestions for the homeless charity that the Winchester shop could partner, please email the Pret’s Foundation Trust Manager on this address:
