Jane Austen’s House Museum in Chawton has been awarded £92,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund for a Resilient Heritage Project, which will see the Museum become more sustainable and more resilient.

Running throughout 2018 and 2019, the project will focus on the promotion, protection and public enjoyment of Jane Austen’s home, and aims to improve the visitor experience.

Mary Guyatt is Museum Curator: “This grant is going to make a long-term difference to the Museum’s mission to treasure, develop and promote Jane Austen’s unique home for the benefit of our visitors.

“It will help us to commission specialist advice to develop our audiences, systems and funding sources and it will also ensure that our small team of dedicated staff and volunteers is expertly trained and ready to respond to these new opportunities in the years to come.”
