Winchester’s panto ‘Beauty and the Beast’ has come to an end after 60 performances. with news of huge attendances.



After the final curtain, leading light Julian Eardley (Dotty) revealed on stage to the cheering audience that more than 19,600 people had attended over the 60 performances since the beginning of December.

As you can see from our picture, many queued up afterwards to ask questions, pass on praise or donate money to help keep the theatre’s activities for young people alive.

Beauty and the Beast

An emotional Julian spoke to Winchester Today after the show: “I’m wonderfully pleased by how it’s gone, we all are.

“We’ve done so many shows and it’s just brilliant to think how much joy it brings to everyone.

“To think there was almost 20,000 people who enjoyed the show… it’s brilliant for me.

“We love it as a cast… sorry I’m a bit overawed!”
