Religious establishments across Winchester have expressed their horror and sadness at the attacks in Sri Lanka that have left hundreds of people dead.

The Minister at United Church Winchester – Tim Searle – gave this statement to Winchester Today:
‘The United Church Winchester stands with the people of Sri Lanka following the attacks targeting hotels and churches on Easter Day.

“We condemn all acts of violence against innocent people regardless of the religion or ideology used to justify them.

“No one has the right to extinguish the sacred God-given light of another. We pray that those affected will know the peace and healing love of God, a love which transcends all man-made boundaries of race or religion.”
