Theatre Royal Winchester has had to postpone its performances of Dear Zoo after the show’s tour company announced their truck – containing the play’s staging, props and costumes – was stolen.

The stage adaptation of the internationally best-selling children’s book, by Rod Campbell, was due at the theatre on Friday 3 – Saturday 4 May. However, the company behind the show, Norwell Lapley Productions, reported that during the early hours of Saturday 27 April, their Mercedes truck and its contents was stolen in Peterborough, in Cambridgeshire.

Dear Zoo will now be at Theatre Royal Winchester on Friday 6, at 1.30pm, and Saturday 7 September, at 11am and 2pm.

All tickets remain valid and audiences can exchange theirs for one of these new dates or claim a full refund by calling Box Office on 01962 840440.

Dear Zoo Producer, Chris Davis, reported the truck’s theft to police and estimates that the truck and its entire contents areworth more than £50,000. It was fitted with a security tracking device, which indicated it could be in the Grantham area, in Lincolnshire.
